The series represents various stages of relationship. The works express symbolically how men and women interact and connect, or react and disconnect, with
each other.
Initially the focus was on relationship between male
and female, the external expression of the idea. Gradually and naturally the
concept evolved and the study became more internalized. The focal
point becomes more about the metaphysical idea of the masculine and the feminine,
and the energies that make up the individual.
Martinez
concludes "The external form of the relationship, what appears in the world,
is an extension of an internal more important reality, the relationship with
one self." For her, one suggests the other.
The series was completed in 2005.
